Jump Start Services

Car and SUV Jump Starts

Most calls are a sedan or crossover that clicks instead of cranking. Many newer cars hide the battery under a seat or in the trunk and put remote jump posts under the hood. We know where they are, so we don't pry off trim looking for terminals.

Pickup and Diesel Truck Jump Starts

Diesel trucks often run two batteries and draw far more current on a cold crank than a car. We bring a pack big enough to turn a heavy-duty starter, and we connect it the way your truck's dual-battery system requires.

Hybrid and EV 12-Volt Jump Starts

Hybrids and EVs still use a small 12-volt battery to wake the computer and unlock the doors. When it's flat, the car is a brick. We jump the low-voltage side only, following the owner's manual, and we never touch the high-voltage system. If the car still won't wake up, our electric vehicle towing page explains the next step.

Locked Out With a Dead Battery

A flat battery can leave the power locks dead and the keys inside. We'll open the door first. See car lockout service.

Parking Garage Jump Starts

A jump with cables needs two cars nose to nose, which rarely works in a garage space or a tight apartment lot. Our portable pack goes to your battery on foot, so the service truck can park wherever there's room and we don't need to move your car.

Work Vans and Box Trucks

A dead van can stall a whole day's route. We jump delivery vans, work trucks and box trucks on the job site so your crew can get moving.

Why Your Battery Died, and When a Jump Isn't Enough

A jump gets most cars running right away. The question is whether it will start again tomorrow. After the engine fires, we'll look at the most common reasons a battery keeps dying and give you a straight answer.

An Aging Battery

Heat is harder on car batteries than cold. A Fort Bend County summer pushes the fluid and plates inside harder than a northern winter does. A battery that's a few years old and needed a jump is usually close to the end of its life.

Corroded Terminals

White or green crust on the battery posts can block current even when the battery itself is fine. We'll point it out, and you can clean the terminals or have a shop replace the clamps.

A Failing Alternator

If the car dies again soon after a jump, or the battery light stays on while driving, the alternator may not be recharging. That needs a mechanic, not another jump.

A Parasitic Drain

A trunk light, a phone charger or an aftermarket accessory that stays on can drain a battery overnight. It's worth having checked if the car is dead every few mornings.

Jump Start or Tow: How We Decide

If the engine cranks strongly after the jump and the battery light goes out, you're usually fine to drive. Keep the engine running for a while so the alternator can put some charge back. A short drive around the corner often isn't enough. A longer drive on the highway does more good than idling in the lot, and it's smart to have the battery tested at a parts store or shop within the next few days, before it strands you somewhere less convenient. If it clicks but won't crank even with the pack connected, the problem is more likely the starter, a loose cable or a fuel issue.

We won't keep trying a jump that isn't working. If the car won't start, or it starts and then dies, we'll explain what we think is going on and quote a tow to your mechanic or dealer. You decide.

Safety notes before anyone jumps your car:

  • Don't jump a battery that's cracked, swollen, leaking or smells like rotten eggs.
  • Don't lean over the battery while it's being connected.
  • If a stranger offers to help with cables, make sure the clamps go positive to positive, then negative to a bare metal ground, not the dead battery's negative post.

Jump Start Service Cost

A jump start without a tow typically costs $60 to $100 around Sugar Land. Late-night and holiday calls usually add 25% to 50%. The price is quoted before we dispatch.

Many auto insurance policies, roadside plans and credit cards include jump starts. Some cars under warranty get them free from the maker's roadside program, so check your app before you pay. If your tire is flat as well, we can handle a flat tire change on the same visit.

What to have ready when you call: where the car is (the store, the garage level, the parking row), the make and model, and whether the lights and dash come on at all. Lights with no crank and a completely dead dash point us toward different problems. Knowing which one you have helps us bring the right equipment the first time.

Dead Battery? We'll Get You Started

Tell us where the car is and what you drive. We'll quote the jump and send a truck.
